In case of an emergency, such as when the stage does not stop, press the EMERGENCY STOP switch on the front of the instrument.
Inspect the instrument and eliminate the cause of the problem before using the instrument again. If the cause cannot be determined, ccontact a Shimadzu sales or service representative.

1. Press the EMERGENCY STOP switch.

  

  This shuts off the power supply to the X-ray generator and all drive units, thus stopping the drive units and the emission of X-rays.
  The monitor reads "The emergency stop switch was pressed".

 

2. Remove the sample from the stage.

  CAUTION:

  • Gently open and close the front door.
    Since the front door is heavy, even if it is pushed just a little when opening or closing it, it will continue to move under its own inertia.

    Open and close the front door gently, taking care to avoid getting your hands or fingers caught.
    The front door is fitted with a door closer to regulate its speed when it is opening or closing. Take care not to get your hands or fingers caught in the door closer's arm or the front door.

  • Open the front door to about 90° and check that it does not close by itself.
    If the front door is not opened to about 90°, it may close during work and body parts may become caught.

  • Do NOT touch the interior side of the front door.
    Doing so may cause injuries from the protrusions on the door.
    Also, strongly colliding with the front door may break the glass pane.

  

  NOTE: The power supply to the control panel is not completely shut off when the EMERGENCY STOP switch is pressed.
    If a complete stop is necessary, set the main breaker to OFF.

 

3. Eliminate the cause of the emergency stop.

 

« Resuming Operation After an Emergency Stop »

  After eliminating the cause of the emergency stop, restore the instrument to normal operation by the following procedure.

1. Pull the EMERGENCY STOP switch or turn it in the clockwise direction.
  This clears the emergency stop status.

  

 

2. Click [Shutdown] in the control software.
  1) Click the [Manage] tab.
  2) Click [Shutdown].

  

 

3. Click [OK].

  

  The control software exits.

 

4. Turn ON the X-ray generator operation switch.

  

 

5. Turn the key switch OFF.

  

 

6. Wait at least 10 seconds and then turn the key switch ON.

  

 

7. Press the OPERATE button.

  

 

8. Double-click  on the desktop.
  The control software starts up and displays the [Pre-Operation Check] window.
  Perform a pre-operation check before using the instrument.
