Rinse the instrument flow channels with purified or distilled water after pumping a buffer solution.
If no analyses will be performed for a while, rinse and disconnect the column, and then rinse the flow channels. Connect a coupling instead of the column.
Leaving the flow channels rinsed with a solution that contains only water can cause mold, bacteria, or other problems inside the instrument. To prevent such problems, rinse the instrument flow channels with 2-propanol, methanol, or other such solvent, and then seal both the suction filter and detector outlet tubing by immersing them in a reservoir bottle.
If a solvent that contains an acid, for example, is used as a rinse solution, rinse the channels with a solvent such as 2-propanol or methanol.
