Set the Manual mode before manually raising/lowering the table.
The load control knob can be set to “RETURN”, “HOLD”, or “OPEN”.
This knob is enabled only when in the manual mode. When in the manual mode, the control mode selector switch is lights.
OPEN: Turn the knob clockwise to raise the ram, or increase the applied load. Between the HOLD and OPEN positions, the ram moves faster as you turn the knob and the ram speed becomes the fastest when the knob is set to “OPEN”.
RETURN: Turn the knob toward “RETURN” to lower the ram, or decrease the applied load.
HOLD: To keep the ram stopped at a position, set the knob to the “HOLD” position. Note that the position where the ram is stopped varies depending on the amount of load and the oil temperature. Find the best knob position while monitoring the test-force reading.
In the Manual mode, the HOLD position of the load control knob may not match the position indicated on the LCD display due to the effect of the oil temperature. If the difference is significantly large, adjust the HOLD position of the load control knob in the following procedure. This adjustment is essential, especially, if you execute a test in the Manual mode using the load control knob.
1) Phenomenon that occurs at hight oil temperature
2) Phenomenon that occurs at low oil temperature
3) After adjusting
1. Press the control mode selector (MANU.) key to set the Manual mode.
2. Install the upper and lower platens.
3. Lower the lower crosshead until the distance between the upper and lower platens becomes approx. 1 to 2 mm.
4. Turn the load control knob gradually toward “OPEN” to raise the ram. Stop raising the ram when the upper and lower platens make contact.
NOTE: Allowing the upper and lower platens to make contact suddenly gives a strong impact on the testing machine. When the platens are near, be sure to slowly operate the load control knob.
5. A test force is applied to the testing machine when the upper and lower platens are in contact. Increase the test force to close to the rated test force by turning the load control knob gradually toward “OPEN”. At this time, turn the load control knob to the position where the test-force value becomes constant or falls slightly.
6. Press the control mode selector (MANU.) key to set the Auto mode.
7. Although the test force starts falling, do not operate the load control knob at this point.
8. Touch the [System] menu key on the LCD display. The System screen appears.
9. Touch the [Maintenance] key.
10. To correct the HOLD position of the load control knob, select the [Special Set] tab, and touch the [Adjust] key.
11. To initialize the corrected value, press the [Reset] key. This operation allows you to initialize the HOLD position of the load control knob.
