(HMV) Maintenance and Inspection (HMV-G-MM)
HMV-G-MM: Motorized Micrometer Kit
Category :

Answer

• Maintenance
1. Turn OFF the power to the hardness tester and the motorized micrometer kit controller BOX.
2. Turning the knob of the motorized micrometer to be replaced, move the X-Y stage until the scale indicates approximately the origin position. (After the movement, the X-Y stage top face will be located at the front left side of the main unit.)
3. Disconnect the cable connected to the motorized micrometer.
4. While holding the motorized micrometer with one hand, loosen the bolt of the micrometer head clamp on the X-Y stage, and remove the motorized micrometer.
NOTE: Since the X-Y stage is held to the motorized micrometer by a spring, be sure to hold the micrometer with one hand, to prevent it from falling off when the clamp bolt is loosened.
5. Turn the knob of the new motorized micrometer, and move it back and forth within the full movable range (graduation 0 to 25).
6. Attach the new motorized micrometer to the X-Y stage, and tighten the clamp bolt. A guideline for the tightening torque is 2 N·m.
NOTE: Do NOT tighten the clamp bolt too strongly. Doing so may deform the sliding unit of the motorized micrometer, resulting in improper operation or malfunction.
7. Connect the cable from the controller BOX to the motorized micrometer mounted on the XY stage.

• Inspection
The grease in the motorized micrometer may be hardened, if left unused for an extended period. If the micrometer has not been used for longer than one month, turn the knob of the motorized micrometer to move it back and forth one or two times within the full movable range (graduation 0 to 25) before turning ON the power.
