FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

If you notice smoke, a burnt smell, or anything else unusual, take the following steps.
Before using the instrument again, inspect it and, if necessary, contact a Shimadzu sales or service representative.
 

• HMV series

1. In the event of a power outage, even if a test is in progress and the indenter is touching the sample, immediately turn OFF the power switch, and wait for the power to be restored. When the power is restored, start the test again from the beginning.
2. If a fire or other emergency occurs, immediately turn OFF the power switch and get away from the instrument.

  

 

• Electric X-Y stage

To immediately stop the electric X-Y stage or Z stage, press the emergency stop button on the stage, or click the emergency stop button in the software window.

The stage will not move while the emergency stop button is ON. To move the stage again, turn OFF the emergency stop button.

 

• Motorized Micrometer Kit: HMV-G-MM

1. Press the Emergency Stop button of the Motorized Micrometer Kit.
2. Turn OFF the power switches on the motorized micrometer controller BOX and the HMV-G main unit, and disconnect the power cord.
