(ICPE) Cleaning the Axial-View Observation Orifice Assembly

(ICPE) Cleaning the Axial-View Observation Orifice Assembly
Category :

Answer

There are
ICPE-9800 Series Standard: 211-87758-42 Orifice L2 ASSY (for mini torch
ICPE-9800 Series Option: 211-88571-42 Orifice S2 ASSY (for optional plasma torches)
 ICPE-9000 Standard: 211-84352-91 Orifice ASSY L
 ICPE-9000 Option: 211-43740 Orifice ASSY
for orifice Assy.

WARINing: There is a risk of burn injury. Do NOT touch the plasma stand interior for 3 minutes after the plasma is extinguished.

NOTE: Cleaning the orifice assembly helps prevent sample contamination and abnormal electric discharge. If such phenomena are observed, clean the orifice assembly.
The frequency of cleaning will differ depending on the samples being analyzed and the period of use.

« Cleaning method 1 for minor stains (Wipe off with pure water) »
1. Wipe the surface of the orifice assembly with gauze moistened with pure water.
2. Remove water from the surface with gauze.

« Cleaning method 2 for minor stains (Wipe off with acid solution) »
1. Wipe the surface of the orifice assembly with gauze moistened with dilute nitric acid or dilute hydrochloric acid.
2. Wipe off the acid solution with gauze moistened with pure water.
3. Remove water from the surface with gauze.

1. Remove the orifice assembly.
  1) Turn the orifice with a spanner.(13mm)
  2) After the orifice becomes looser, turn it manually to remove it.

2. Clean the Orifice Assembly
  1) Prepare hydrochloric acid (HCl) 2 standard solution as the cleaning fluid.
  2) Immerse the orifice assembly in the cleaning fluid for 2 minutes.
  3) Remove the orifice assembly from the cleaning fluid and wash it with purified water.
  4) Wipe the surface of the orifice assembly (particularly the interior and the surface of the tungsten tip) with gauze to remove all moisture.
NOTE: Do NOT perform ultrasonic cleaning on the orifice assembly.

3. Attach the orifice assembly
  1) Attach the orifice assembly to the cooling jacket by turning it manually.
  2) Tighten the assembly with a spanner.
NOTE: Be careful not to tighten with excessive force.

NOTE: The contact surface with the cooling jacket will become rough due to wear of the orifice assembly. This will decrease the orifice assembly cooling efficiency, leading to significant deterioration of the orifice assembly surface. In this case, replace with a new orifice assembly.
CAUTION: Make sure to turn on the purge gas while nebulizing the sample to check the suction speed. The orifice assembly will deteriorate rapidly and the cooling jacket will be damaged.
