Daily Shutdown (LCMS)

Daily Shutdown (LCMS)
Category :

Answer

HINT: The vacuum status affects the instrument's sensitivity. With the exception of situations where the instrument is not used for a long time, the instrument's vacuum system should be kept on in order to maintain a high vacuum in everyday use.

NOTE: If you keep the heater turned on so that you can quickly resume analysis, keep also the gas turned on. Turning off the gas may cause the ambient atmosphere to flow into vacuum, contaminating the interior of the instrument.
NOTE(LCMS-2050): Under normal conditions of use, open the gas ballast regulator valve of the rotary pump once a week to remove any contaminants in the oil. In addition, the oil collected in the oil mist filter must be returned to the rotary pump. For details, see "Maintenance of the Rotary Pump (LCMS)".

1. Exit LabSolutions.
NOTE: Even after the interface heater has been turned OFF, the heating gas will remain ON until the interface heater cools down below the specified temperature.
The CID gas continues to flow at 17 kPa until the valve of the CID gas cylinder is closed.
2. Stop the supply of nitrogen gas and dry air (by turning the nitrogen gas/dry air generator OFF).
3. Turn OFF the power of every LC unit.
4. Mount the DL plug.
WARNING: Check that the temperature of the DL, heated block, and interface heater has fallen to 50°C or lower before proceeding with the work.
The inside of the ionization unit, DL, and heated block reach high temperatures. Turn the heater OFF from LabSolutions before starting this work.
If you proceed with the work while the temperature is still high, you may sustain burns.
NOTE(LCMS-2050): When [Heater and High voltage Off, Gas On] is selected in the shutdown processing, the DL plug cannot be attached.
