(SMX-225CT) Cleaning the X-ray Tube Vacuum Chamber (Video)

(SMX-225CT) Cleaning the X-ray Tube Vacuum Chamber (Video)
Category :

Answer

Clean the surface of the focus cup and the inside of the X-ray tube vacuum chamber.
Perform this procedure when the filament is replaced or when aging does not end.

1. Make sure that nothing is on the CT stage.

2. Move SID to 1200 mm.

3. Move SOD to the maximum limit.

4. Click the [×] button at the top right of the CT software inspeXio64 [Main] window to exit the software.

5. Turn OFF the X-ray generator circuit breaker on the HVC unit to shut off the power to the X-ray generator.
There is a risk of electric shock if the power to the X-ray generator is left ON. Always turn this OFF.

6. Loosen the ventvalve of turbo molecular pump counterclockwise to release of the X-ray generator to air, after the X-ray generator is turned OFF. Wait at least 3 minutes in this state.

CAUTION: Do NOT completely remove the vent screw.
Doing so may cause a malfunction.

7. Make sure that the sound of the unit being released to air (sound of air passing into the chamber from the ventvalve) can no longer be heard before unclamping the X-ray tube head and unscrewing the knurled screw.

8. Lift the X-ray tube head fixing lever on the hinge upwards to open the X-ray tube head, and fix the X-ray head with the fixing lever returned downwards with the head opened.

9. Short-circuit across the focus cup and the X-ray tube vacuum chamber with the Phillips screwdriver.
To prevent electric shock during this step, first bring the Phillips screwdriver into contact with the X-ray vacuum chamber and then allow the screwdriver to contact the focus cup from the side in a sliding motion. If you bring the Phillips screwdriver into contact with the focus cup first, you may receive an electric shock.

10. Put on the vinyl gloves.
If you perform this step without wearing vinyl gloves, dirt or oil from the hands might stick to the focus cup or to the inside of the X-ray tube vacuum chamber, and cause electrical discharge.

11. Clean the surface of the focus cup and the inside of the X-ray tube vacuum chamber with BEMCOT moistened with cleaning alcohol.

12. Apply a thin coating of vacuum grease (part number: 017-30831-01)to the O-ring on the X-ray tube vacuum chamber.
If vacuum grease accidentally adheres to the chamber, use a Bencot containing alcohol for cleaning.

13. Lift the X-ray tube head fixing lever on the hinge upwards to close the X-ray tube head.

14. Hook the clamp on the X-ray tube head, and tighten the knurled screw.

15. Fasten the vent valve of the turbo molecular pump by turning clockwise.

16. Turn ON the X-ray generator circuit breaker and turn on the power to the X-ray generator.

17. Double-click the (inspeXio64) icon on the Desktop of the control computer to start up CT software inspeXio64.
CT software inspeXio64 starts up, and the following message is displayed.

When the vacuum system (diaphragm pump and turbo molecular pump) starts up successfully, the above message disappears and the CT software inspeXio64 main window appears. It generally takes about 3 minutes for the above message to disappear after the CT software is started up. If the above message does not disappear after three minutes, or an error message is displayed, check the status on the X-ray panel unit.
Click here for "(SMX-225CT) Status on the X-ray Panel Unit".

18. Click the  button on the X-ray control area to display the [X-Ray Generator Information] window.

19. Wait for vacuum gauge output in the [X-Ray Generator Information] window to fall to 15 or below.
After release to air, normally it takes about two hours for vacuum gauge output to fall to 15 or below.
