(PPSQ) Replacing the Nitrogen Gas Cylinder

(PPSQ) Replacing the Nitrogen Gas Cylinder
Category :

Answer

Occasionally check the nitrogen gas cylinder's pressure regulator during system operation and, if the residual pressure is low, replace the cylinder as soon as possible. (As a rough guide, replace the cylinder when the residual pressure drops to approximately 1 MPa.)
Check that the system is inactive before replacing the cylinder.

CAUTION: Do not replace the cylinder during execution of the time program.

1. Turn the pressure regulator's pressure adjustment knob(1) as much as possible to the left.

2. Turn the pressure regulator's outlet-side needle valve(2) to the right to close it.
3. Turn the cylinder's shut-off valve to the right to close it.
4. Loosen the nut(3) while holding the pressure regulator with one hand and remove the pressure regulator from the cylinder.
5. After checking that there is no foreign matter in the new cylinder's cap unit, attach the pressure regulator.
  NOTE:
    • If there is foreign matter in the cap unit, remove it.
    • Be sure to insert the packing provided in the connected parts.
6. Select [Purge Gas Tubing] on the [Maintenance] menu in the [PPSQ Analysis] window. The [Purge Gas Tubing] dialog box is displayed.

7. Click [ON]. Purging of the gas tube starts.
8. Turn the pressure regulator's outlet-side needle valve to the left to open it.
9. Turn the cylinder's shut-off valve to the left to open it.
10. Slowly turn the pressure regulator's pressure adjustment knob to the right until the outlet-side pressure gauge reads approximately 0.15MPa.
In this state, gas supplied from the cylinder is discharged into the atmosphere immediately after entering the system, and the air in the piping between the cylinder and the system is replaced with nitrogen.
11. When the air has been fully replaced, stop the purge operation. (If the piping tube provided is used, this takes approximately 30 to 40 s.) Click [OFF].
12. Readjust the pressure adjustment knob so that the pressure regulator's outlet-side pressure gauge reads 0.2MPa.
13. Read the cylinder pressure with the pressure regulator's inlet-side pressure gauge and then read it again some time later to check that there are no leaks.
14. Click [Close] on the [Purge Gas Tubing] dialog box.
