The procedure for specifying settings for switching between using the system with or without MS is described below.

1. Install a diverter valve in tubes connected between the LC detector and MS unit.
2. In the [System Configuration] sub-window, click [LCMS]-[Properties] to display the [MS Detector] sub-window.
3. If a two-position valve is installed, click [2-Position]. For a six-position valve, click [6-Position]. The following describes an example of configuring settings for an LCMS-2050 system.

Open the method file used for data acquisition.
Use the MS direction and liquid waste direction to switch between with/without MS.
 
Caution: If not using the MS unit, provide adequate rinsing for rinsing away non-volatile salts. Inadequate rinsing could promote MS contamination.
  If the MS unit is specified in system configuration settings, then the MS unit must be operated. In that case, either remove the MS unit from the system in system configuration settings or configure a system without an MS unit.
