(EDX) "Pb" measurement in solder

I am analyzing Pb in solder.
The EDX quantitative values are inconsistent with the ICP values.
Why is this?

Answer

This is likely due to sample segregation.
The Pb in the solder is sometimes segregated at the surface.
EDX analysis is strongly affected by the sample surface, so if the Pb is segregated at the surface, the quantitative value will be inflated.
By using rapid cooling to create the sample, or by polishing the surface, the quantitative value for Pb may be reduced.
