(EDX) Analytical depth

What is the approximate analysis depth in fluorescent X-ray analysis?
Category :

Answer

The analysis depth for fluorescent X-rays changes with the principal components of the sample and the target elements (analysis lines).
• The lighter the elements making up the principal components, the more the depth is increased; the heavier those elements, the more the depth is decreased.
• The heavier the target elements (higherenergy analysis lines), the more the depth is increased; the lighter the target elements (lower energy analysis lines), the more the depth is decreased.
