(AA) GFA, Cleaning the Window Plate Sockets and Window Plates

(AA) Cleaning the Window Plate Sockets and Window Plates (GFA-7800/7000)
Category :

Answer

WARNING:
• RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK: Before attaching or detaching the graphite furnace or heating cables, make sure that the power is off.
• The window plate is made of glass. Handle carefully to avoid breaking it.
  Broken glass may cause injuries.

NOTE:
After repeated measurements, the inner surface of the window plate sockets and window plate (made of quartz) become contaminated with graphite powder or smoke generated from samples. If the contamination becomes severe, reproducibility will be adversely affected or baseline noise will increase.
Clean the window plate sockets and window plate weekly when using the equipment daily according to the following procedure. If measurement is performed only intermittently, clean them before measurement.

Parts Number: 036-11015  O-ring, 4CP14

1. Press the eject arm to release the lock and remove the graphite tube.
2. Pull the window plate sockets out from the cooling blocks and remove the O-rings from the window plate socket.
3. Disconnect the inner gas tubes from the window plate sockets via the couplings.
4. Remove the O-rings fixing the window plates using tweezers and remove the window plates.
5. Soak the window plate sockets and window plates in distilled water or alcohol to remove dirt, and then wipe away all moisture using a clean paper cloth.
6. Wipe away dirt on the O-rings used for fixing the window plate sockets and window plates using distilled water or alcohol. At this time, check the O-rings, and if a crack is detected, replace the O-ring with a new one.
7. Fit the window plates into the window plate sockets and secure them with O-rings.
8. Reconnect the inner gas tubes disconnected in 3. to the couplings of the window plate sockets.
9. Mount the O-rings used for the window plate sockets back to the original positions and mount the window plate sockets with attached window plates and inner gas tubes to the cooling blocks.
