CAUTION: Wear safety glasses.
 
1. Though the PFTBA can be filled while the GC/MS has started up, stop the instrument as far as possible.
 
 
2. In the Tuning window in the [GCMS Real Time Analysis] program, make sure that the PFTBA valve is closed.
  The photo on the left shows the PFTBA valve open.
 
 
3. Lightly press the side of MS cover SI.
 
 
4. Remove cover SI by turning towards you while lightly pressing its side.
 
 
5. Turn nut 1/4N-B by hand.
 
 
6. Gently pull nut 1/4N-B down to remove.
 
 
7. Slide the vial down to remove.
 
 
8. Remove the capillary ASSY from the vial.
  CAUTION: Do not directly touch the column section of the capillary ASSY with your hand.
 
 
9. Prepare a PFTBA standard sample.
 
 
10. Fill with PFTBA standard sample up to about 1/3 of the vial.
  CAUTION: Do not fill the vial with PFTBA above the 1/3 level.
 
 
11. Replace blocked capillary ASSYs.
 
 
12. Install the capillary ASSY in the vial.
  NOTE: Do not directly touch the column section of the capillary ASSY with your hand. If it is touched by mistake, wipe it clean with gauze, etc. moistened with acetone.
 
 
13. Install the vial onto the GC/MS.
 
 
14. Install nut 1/4N-B.
 
 
15. Tighten nut 1/4N-B by hand.
 
 
16. Attach cover SI by turning inwards while lightly pressing its side.
 
 
17. In the Tuning window in the [GCMS Real Time Analysis] program, click the PFTBA button to open the PFTBA valve.

  Leave the PFTBA valve open for a few minutes to remove air from the vial.
  After air is removed, click the PFTBA button in the Tuning window in the [GCMS Real Time Analysis] program to close the PFTBA valve.
