Category :

Answer

Contamination of the PEEK tube of the column outlet and/or the ESI probe will cause adsorption of the sample, which will result in decrease in sensitivity or deterioration of peak shape.

«Confirmation»
The overall decrease in sensitivity. Noted that, when blockage of the PEEK tube occurs, the pump pressure will increase. When contamination is severe, there can be symptoms of deterioration of the peak shape (spread of peak).

«Corrective Actions»
Replace the PEEK tube.
The symptom may be improved by washing by passing the liquid. When the symptom reoccurs, replace the PEEK tube.
Make sure to use ID 0.13 mm ESI PEEK tube (with a red line). Cut it to 42cm before connecting it. Make sure to connect it through a coupling.
