How to check for Heater block and Sampling Cone problems (LCMS)
Category :

Answer

Contamination around the heated block and/or sampling cone will cause adsorption of the sample and/or inhibition of ionization due to impurity ions. The contamination will also cause an unstable ionization current which may results in noise.

After removing the heater flange, wipe off the entire part around the heated block for cleaning. Clean the sampling cone by ultrasonic cleaning after wiping it.
CAUTION: The block heater may be hot, so be sure to lower the temperature to room temperature before cleaning.
